WebP to PNG Converter
Turn WebP stickers, logos and screenshots into PNG files that open in any editor. Transparency is kept and no further quality is lost. The conversion runs entirely in your browser.
🔒 Runs in your browser. Your files and text are not uploaded.
How to use the WebP to PNG Converter
- Drop your WebP images on the box, or click to choose them.
- Each file is converted immediately. PNG needs no quality setting because it is lossless.
- Download one PNG, or press “Download all (ZIP)”.
Why choose PNG instead of JPG
Pick PNG when the WebP picture has a transparent background, such as a logo, sticker or cut-out, or when you want to edit it without adding another round of lossy compression. PNG keeps the alpha channel, so soft shadows and anti-aliased edges survive, and it stores pixels exactly as they were decoded. If the picture is an ordinary photograph without transparency, WebP to JPG makes a much smaller file.
What to expect from the file size
PNG files made from lossy WebP pictures are often two to five times bigger than the WebP, and the gap grows with photographs. That is the price of exactness: the PNG stores the decoded picture, including the small flaws that lossy compression created. For graphics with flat colour, such as icons and diagrams, the difference is usually small. If size matters, run the result through the compressor with the format “Keep the original format”, or consider converting back to a lossless WebP for websites.
Animated WebP
An animated WebP is saved as a single PNG showing the first frame. PNG itself has no widely supported animation format, so if you need an animation, use a GIF or video tool that accepts WebP input instead.
WebP to PNG or WebP to JPG: how to choose
| Your picture | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Logo, sticker, icon or cut-out | PNG | Keeps transparency and crisp edges |
| Screenshot with text | PNG | No blur or noise around letters |
| Photograph without transparency | JPG, with WebP to JPG | The file is far smaller than a PNG |
| Picture for your own website | Keep the WebP | It is already the most efficient choice |
When in doubt, convert to PNG first: it loses nothing, and you can always shrink it afterwards.
Typical uses
- Opening a picture that Windows, older Office versions or a design program refuses.
- Using a downloaded logo or sticker on a slide, a video timeline or a printed layout.
- Preparing screenshots and UI assets for documentation, where exact pixels and transparency matter.
- Archiving a web image in a format that every program can read decades from now.
The converted file keeps the pixel dimensions of the original and contains no metadata.
Frequently asked questions
Does WebP to PNG keep transparency?
Yes. The alpha channel is carried over, including partly transparent pixels.
Is the conversion lossless?
The PNG stores exactly what your browser decodes from the WebP, so no further quality is lost. Detail that was removed when the WebP was created cannot be restored.
Why is the PNG bigger than my WebP?
WebP is more efficient than PNG, especially for photographs. Use JPG if you do not need transparency and want a smaller file.
Can it convert animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted.
Is it private?
Yes. No file leaves your browser.
